A States view on First time and Multiple time Offenders

(The content below was transcribed from an interview done with Acacia Law. We think you'll find it much easier
and more enjoyable to read this way.)

Interviewer: Does the state tend to do this more on multiple offenders or first timers? Do they want to like bury people who have had a previous misdemeanor or a felony or do they just apply it unilaterally?

Acacia Law: They apply it across the board. As far as I've seen over the past 24 years, anytime they can allege it, they will. It is to their advantage. One of the reasons it's become so important in the past 20 years is because of the, a lot of the domestic violence statutes changed and have been constantly in evolution for about the past ten years.

..People have this concept of burglary as theft type crime, Burglary crime is much, much wider than that in terms of the range of different activities that it covers. For example, two of the things I wanted to touch base with you today, in which I see burglary charges frequently applied are in the cases of domestic violence and in the cases of what's called, intentional interference with judicial proceedings, and I can explain what both of those entail.
