Interviewer: Well, that says to me how vital it is to have an attorney whenever you are facing any crime because the penalty for the crime itself and dealing with that, but if you are young enough or get many years ahead of you, it just sets you up for extremely serious things if you ever get arrested for another crime.

Acacia Law: Yes. I have to give credit to a lot of our clients who have the good sense to come in when they have a misdemeanor and try to get that off their record and defeat that as soon as possible. Because even though they may not know what the law is, they instinctively know that the more they have on their record the worse off they are.

So, when people come to me for misdemeanors, which is actually quite important, especially, if they are young, but as long as they don't have very little criminal history, it's really important to get those things knocked off and beaten if you can because, basically, as time goes on, you commit other crimes, you start building up a record and not only can, again, you be charged with a felony, but you're basically giving the judge ammunition in order to tee you up and knock you down the fairway.
